Hi, We are Karen and Michael.

We are the owners and sole operators of OmaDog Sit. We do not have staff. That is the way it will stay. We intend to be a low volume sitter with mostly repeat business down the road. Michael is the primary sitter and Karen is the secondary.

We are in our 60s and have been together for 44 years. We have been owned by dogs our whole lives and we couldn’t imagine a home without the constant patter of paws. Along with our childhood dogs, we have had at least two dogs with us since we met. We currently live with three dogs. Vala is a 100# 13-year-old Northern Herder Mix. Kirby is an 85# 4-year-old Shepard Mix. And Baam Is a 55# 2-year-old Northern Mix. All our current dogs are from local shelters 

When we were younger, we wanted to do more than just enjoy our furry friends. We spent 15 years in the AKC purebred dog world where we loved, showed and bred Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. We had 14 litters with 89 pups over that time. We showed and titled in Conformation, Obedience, Herding, and Agility in AKC events all over the county as well as competing and titling in Weight Pulling, with the International Weight Pull Association and The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club and earning Drafting titles with the GSMDCA and the Bernese Mountain Dog Club. Karen was the GSMDCAs Corresponding secretary for 3 years and answered more than 10,000 informational inquiries during that time. Michael was the chair of the weight pull committee and an event Judge. We traveled from coast to coast executing weight pull events. Michael also was on the drafting committee and was a draft judge. Working to motivate the dogs to do and enjoy their “jobs” was fun.  We have a lot of patience and always work with positive training methods using treats and praise.

As with all things, the good comes with the bad, so we have lots of experience with canine health problems with all ages, from prior to birth to the final day. We have experienced epilepsy, several kinds of cancer, all sorts of orthopedic issues, allergies, bloat, splenic torsion and myriad metabolic issues. We are very familiar with older dogs and their issues. We are very experienced in medications. We can administer medications and understand how timely they need to be. We also have experience with young high energy pups.

If your pet stays with us but isn’t used to playing with others, then we have ways to separate your dogs from ours and there will be no interaction.  If your dog likes friends, then they will have buddies here to play with.
